Islio works with your clipboard, your media and your microphone indicator, and it does all of it on your own Mac. This page sets out precisely what is stored, what is processed and what is sent.
Everything stays on your Mac. Islio has no account, no login and no cloud sync. Your clipboard, files, screenshots and calendar never leave your computer. The app talks to our server for two things only — licence and trial checks, and update checks — and neither carries any of your content.
The app contains no analytics and no tracking. We do not know how many times you opened the app or which features you use.
Two narrowly scoped features reach the internet — translation when you use it, and a public media thumbnail only when macOS supplies no artwork. Both are described in full in section 4.
Islio is published by Gaming hub LLC, a company registered in the Republic of Armenia, which is the data controller for the limited personal data described in this policy.
This policy covers the Islio app for macOS and the website at islio.app. For any privacy question or to exercise the rights in section 10, write to legal@islio.app.
Concretely, Islio contains none of the following:
You can verify this yourself with any network monitor — Little Snitch, LuLu, or macOS's own tools. Watch the traffic and you will see only the destinations named in section 4.
Islio's features work by reading things happening on your computer. All of it is processed locally and stored locally, in your own user library folder:
Nothing here leaves your Mac except as described in section 4.
Every network request the app can make is listed here, in full rather than in summary, because this is the part of a privacy policy that usually hides something.
For a free trial, Islio sends a hashed Mac identifier and the app and macOS versions to our Cloudflare service. We store the original trial start and expiry times against that identifier, including after expiry, to prevent reinstalling the app from starting another trial. Trial status is checked at each app launch; checking eligibility does not start the trial. Only choosing “Start 3-day free trial” starts the 72-hour period. No payment card is required and the trial does not automatically charge you.
We count trial starts in aggregate. These requests do not contain clipboard contents, files, recordings, calendar events or feature-use history.
When you type into the Translate panel, the text you typed is sent to Google's translation service in order to be translated. Machine translation cannot be performed without transmitting the text, so we state it here explicitly.
macOS normally provides the artwork for what is playing. On the first video
in a new browser session it can provide only the browser icon and omit the
actual thumbnail. In that specific case, Islio derives the public YouTube
thumbnail address from the active video URL and requests the image directly
from YouTube's image CDN (i.ytimg.com).
When you enter your licence key — and again at every launch and a few times a day while the app runs — the app asks our own server (islio.app) whether the key is still valid. Frequent checks are what let a refunded key stop working within hours rather than weeks.
Starting with version 1.0.6, Islio uses Sparkle to read a static update feed from islio.app and, only when you choose, download and install a signed update. Requests contain ordinary network information such as your IP address and an application User-Agent, which can include app, framework and OS version information. We disable Sparkle’s optional system-profile reporting. Update requests do not include your license key, hardware identifier, clipboard, recordings or other user content.
Turn automatic update checks off in Settings to check only when requested. Installation and restart require your action. Updates preserve local data and licensing state; active calls, recordings and file conversions postpone restart.
macOS requires your explicit consent before an app can do certain things. On first launch Islio offers only Accessibility. Every other permission is requested when you first use the feature that needs it. The Access page in Settings shows the current state and links back to the matching system pane.
Every one of these is optional. Decline any of them and Islio keeps working — the corresponding feature simply stays quiet. You can withdraw any permission at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
Islio can show a live indicator when another app is using your microphone, with a wave that moves in time with your voice. Drawing that wave requires reading the input level, and macOS provides no way to read a level without opening the microphone.
So we made the trade-off explicit:
When you buy Islio, the payment is handled by our Merchant of Record (see section 9). They collect what any seller must in order to sell you something:
What we receive from them is your email address, your order, and enough information to issue your licence and answer your questions. We use it to deliver your purchase, provide support and comply with tax law — and for nothing else. We do not add you to a marketing list without you asking.
If you write to support@islio.app, we receive your email address, your message, and anything you choose to attach. We keep the correspondence so we have context if you write again, and we use it only to help you.
Please do not send us passwords, licence keys belonging to other people, or confidential documents. If you send a screenshot to illustrate a bug, check what else is visible in it first.
We use as few third parties as a business can. These are all of them:
islio.app, so your support
messages reach a human.None of these has access to anything the app holds on your Mac.
Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in the European Economic Area and the UK — you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable form.
In practice, the only personal data we hold is your purchase record and any email you have sent us. To exercise any of these rights, write to legal@islio.app. We respond within 30 days, and there is no charge.
The lawful bases we rely on are the performance of a contract (delivering the software you bought), legal obligation (keeping tax records), and our legitimate interest in answering your support messages.
If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you may complain to your local data protection authority.
Islio is a productivity tool for general audiences and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
If this policy changes, we update the date at the top of the page. If a change is material — for example if a future feature ever needed to send something new — we will say so plainly on this page and in the app before it takes effect, not bury it in a revision.
If you leave a review, we store the name you enter, your email address, the review text, and the time it was posted — in our own database at our website host, nowhere else.
Your email exists for exactly one purpose: so we can reply to you. It is never displayed publicly, never shared, and never used for marketing. Likes and dislikes are counted with a random browser token; we do not store your IP address with your vote.
To have your review or the data attached to it removed, write to support@islio.app from the address you used to post it.
This section is about the website only. The app itself still contains no analytics of any kind — see section 4.
We use Umami to count visits to islio.app: how many people arrive, which pages they open, which site sent them, and a country guessed from the connection. It sets no cookies, stores no IP address, and creates no profile that would let us recognise you on a later visit or on another site. The data is held in the European Union.
We look at it to learn whether anyone found us, not to learn anything about you.
Privacy questions, data requests, or anything on this page you would like explained in more detail: legal@islio.app.

Something here unclear?
We would rather rewrite a paragraph than have you guess at what it means. Ask, and we will explain — or fix the wording.
