Getting started

Install Islio, give the features you use their permissions and start your 3-day trial when you are ready. No payment card is needed.

Try Islio free for 3 days macOS 15+ · Apple silicon

1. Install the Mac app

You need an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later. Download Islio from this site, open the disk image and drag Islio into Applications. Launch it from Applications rather than from the mounted installer.

The official release is signed and notarized by Apple. If you are updating an existing installation, quit Islio before replacing the app. You do not need to delete your data or reset permissions for an ordinary update.

2. Enable Accessibility when prompted

In Islio’s setup card, choose Settings to open the Accessibility section of macOS System Settings. Enable Islio. macOS may ask you to authenticate before changing that switch. Islio should recognise the permission and continue to the next setup step.

Accessibility supports actions such as pasting a clipboard entry into another app. Other features may request their own permissions when needed. Grant access for the features you plan to use; macOS lets you review these permissions under Privacy & Security.

If the same Accessibility card keeps returning, make sure the enabled entry is Islio and you launched the current copy from Applications. Quit and reopen Islio after enabling access. If the problem continues, contact support@islio.app with your macOS and Islio versions.

3. Start your trial explicitly

Choose Start 3-day free trial in the app. The 72-hour period starts only after you choose that button and the start request succeeds. Downloading the installer, opening the app or checking eligibility does not start it.

One trial is available per Mac. An internet connection is required at each launch during the trial. If the app is already running, going offline does not extend the original deadline. Reinstalling does not restart the trial.

There is no automatic payment at the end. After 72 hours, features are blocked until you activate a licence, including if the app stays open. Your saved data is retained.

4. Open the island and try a feature

Move the pointer to the notch. When a live activity such as an active microphone occupies the island, click it to open the panel. Move between sections inside the expanded island. Moving the pointer away normally closes it; an active interaction may keep it open.

Start with a task you already do: retrieve a previous copy in Clipboard, or park a file on the Shelf before switching windows. In Islio’s settings, choose the sections you want available.

5. Activate if Islio fits your workflow

A lifetime licence costs $9 and covers three Macs. There is no subscription. You can buy during the trial or after it ends. Open the activation form, enter your licence key and activate it. The Activate button opens that form; pressing it alone does not buy anything.

An activated licence replaces trial access, so an expired trial does not block a properly activated copy. Keep your key private. For purchase questions, contact support rather than posting the key publicly.

Mute without leaving your call

Press and release ⌘ + ⌥ alone to mute or unmute system microphone input. Accessibility access and the microphone shortcut setting must be enabled. Islio shows the source app beside the microphone; click it to return to the app. Supported Chrome tabs can be selected individually.

A reminder appears for each microphone session. Choose Don’t show again to stop reminders, or restore them in Settings → General. Muting in Islio does not change the mute button displayed by Teams or Zoom.

Calls alongside music

When the microphone is active but another activity occupies the island, a small capsule on the left keeps the microphone and its source apps within reach. Hold Option and click the main island to switch activities. Press and release Command + Option to mute or unmute; the microphone status comes forward briefly. Reminders include a Don’t show again button. You can restore reminders or hide the companion capsule in Settings → General.

Getting future versions

Starting with Islio 1.0.8, automatic checks are enabled by default and look for new versions on islio.app about every 15 minutes while the app is running. If you previously disabled checks, that choice is preserved. A notice in the island announces a new release. A red arrow beside Settings remains visible until you update, including after restarting Islio. Click it to open update settings. Choose Download update, then Update and restart when you are ready. Islio verifies the update before installing it and preserves your data, settings and license. Restart is deferred during a call, recording or file conversion. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings. Versions 1.0.5 and earlier need one manual download to gain in-app installation.
