Keep the text you need between apps

Writing an email often means collecting a name, a link and a sentence from different windows. Islio keeps a history of copied text while it is running with an active trial or licence. You can retrieve an earlier entry without going back through each source window.

The history lives in the Clipboard section of the island. Search narrows the list as you type. Selecting an entry can paste it into the active app; Accessibility permission is needed for that action.

Try it with a real task

  1. Install Islio and complete the first-run setup. Start your trial when you are ready.
  2. Copy a short piece of text, then copy another. Use sample text for your first test.
  3. Open the island and choose Clipboard. Search for a word from the first entry.
  4. Place the text cursor in the destination app, return to the island and choose the entry to paste.

If automatic paste does not work, check Islio’s Accessibility access in System Settings. You can also use an entry’s Copy action, return to your document and paste normally.

Read text from copied images

When you copy an image without a text payload, Islio can recognise the words in it and add the recognised text to history. These entries are marked as coming from an image. That is useful for a screenshot of an address, an error message or a short passage you need to quote.

Text recognition runs on your Mac using Apple’s frameworks. Check the result before using it: small type, unusual layouts and blurry screenshots can affect recognition. This feature extracts text; it is not a gallery of your original images.

A local history, with clear limits

Islio does not sync clipboard history between devices or upload it to its licensing service. The app skips clipboard content that the source app marks as concealed. That does not mean every password or sensitive item can be detected: what is marked depends on the source app.

Clipboard history starts with copies made while the feature is running. It cannot reconstruct text copied before you installed Islio. For the app’s storage and network details, read the privacy policy.

Text history or a place for files?

Use Clipboard to retrieve words and links. To hold files while switching between windows, use the file shelf. Both are part of the same Islio licence, alongside music controls, screenshots and other tools.

Islio requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later. It is designed around a notch panel, so try the interaction with your own display and workflow during the free trial.
